Hi to all Pfingst descendants and researchers.
Welcome to the Pfingst family blog pages, listed in the menu as News.
In creating this website, Marion and I have run into several expected and many unexpected hurdles – and I’m sure that there are many more issues, tweaks and adjustments to come as this website evolves. We expect and encourage your feedback as members and participants to help this website grow.
The latest hurdle was regarding just how much personal info should be displayed to members (Our Person Index data is not publicly shown at all – you must be an approved member and logged in to view it). It was decided for privacy reasons, all birth and marriage dates for living persons have been removed from the Person Index database. In doing this the names of those who are living will now appear with only the year and place shown. Details of those deceased remain unchanged.
Another limitation I should note about the Person Index is that currently only administrators (currently Marion and myself only) can add, edit and remove content. Sometime in the future, I hope to allow each member the ability to edit their immediate family details but this is not easy to do for now. So if you find any errors, please let us know and we’ll update them as soon as we can – time permitting. You can add comments to the bottom of each person page in the Person Index.
So, it is up to you, the members, to check our records and let us know if there are are errors, additions, or changes required. The best place to discuss / suggest changes and add stories is in the Family Discussion forums. Create a topic, ask a question, say hello, whatever you want, but just be nice 🙂 as we’re all family in here.
I’d also like to add a feature to allow members to upload photos, charts and documents – currently this can only be done by admins so please let Marion or myself know if you have any to contribute.
regards,
John
